Whether we’re giving to community organizations across North America, investing in partnerships to address societal needs, or supporting the giving and volunteer activities of our 55,000 employees, we pride ourselves on our 200-year-plus legacy of growing the good in the communities we serve.

  • Over the past five years, BMO employees donated over $130* million to charities across North America.
  • In 2023, our employees gave over $31 million to charitable organizations across North America, including $13 million to the United Way and spent over 62,000 hours volunteering.

Our giving priorities

BMO’s employee and community giving focuses on three areas.

1. Communities: We believe economies thrive when communities thrive.
We empower communities by funding the development of tools and resources such as mentorship programs, financial literacy workshops and increasing access to arts and culture. Giving areas include:

How to request a donation or event sponsorship

BMO has a long history of supporting registered charities and non-profit organizations across our footprint. Funding applications are accepted online and are considered if you have a program or project that aligns with our focus areas and meets our eligibility criteria. We only accept applications submitted through our online form. Please note that due to the high volume of requests we receive, it can take up to 90 days to review and respond to your application.
